Interests
Great teachers bring their passions into the classroom
Mountain Rescue
I've been volunteering with the Rocky Mountain Rescue team in Boulder since 2010. Its one of the busiest all volunteer search and rescue teams in the country. Our team averages over 200 calls a year. I also have medical training as a WFR and an EMT.
Art
You can often see me sketching trailside. I love to create large scale paintings at home and do small watercolors when I'm on the go. I've shown my art in galleries around the world. I've also dabbled in pottery, embroidery, jewelry making, etc. Fun fact: my husband and I each made each other's wedding rings.
The Wilderness
You can most often find me in the mountains or the woods. I love backpacking, hiking, and rock climbing. I'd rather sleep under the stars than in my bed any night.
Writing
I write poetry and children's books. I've recently finished writing and illustrating a biography series about female explorers and a whimsical children's picture book set in Kenya that I am working on getting published.
Travel
I have had the privilege of going to over 30 countries and exploring the world. Many of these countries I was able to spend several weeks or months in, learning about the culture and community there. I love being able to bring my world travels into the classroom.
My Family
My husband Cal and I have a little daughter named Ceyla who is 1.5 years old. We love going on adventures as a family.
